Soustředění se zúčastnili čeští, finští a maďarští orientační běžci s členy finského klubu Espoon Suunta a maďarského klubu Veszprémi Honvéd SE.

Závodníci si mohli ověřit svou fyzickou i psychickou připravenost, vyzkoušet si práci pod tlakem a porovnat své zkušenosti s kolegy z maďarska a finska.

Společné tréninky, závody i volnočasové aktivity umožnily vzájemnou výměnu zkušeností, porovnání různých přístupů k orientačnímu běhu a navázání nových přátelství.

International Orienteering Training Camp in Vyšší Brod

#orienteering #erasmus #erasmusplus #erasmusplussport

From August 3–9, 2026, an international orienteering training camp took place in Vyšší Brod and the surrounding area as part of the Erasmus program. The camp was attended by Czech, Finnish, and Hungarian orienteers, including members of the Finnish club Espoon Suunta and the Hungarian club Veszprémi Honvéd SE.

The main goal of the training camp was to prepare for the OWC 2026 competitions, which took place in Vyšší Brod and the surrounding area from August 5 to 9, 2026. Both training sessions and competitions were held in the challenging forest terrain typical of this region.

Training program

During the training camp, several training sessions were held in terrain similar to that of the 2026 OWC competitions. The difficulty of the training sessions was gradually increased—from generally easy-to-navigate forest terrain to difficult-to-navigate areas full of thickets, rocks, and rugged sections.

The training sessions focused primarily on precise navigation in challenging terrain, choosing the right routes, map reading, quick decision-making, physical fitness, and moving safely through rocky and difficult-to-traverse sections. Gradually increasing the difficulty allowed participants to become more familiar with local conditions and prepare for the various situations that might arise during the races. An important part of the training camp was also the exchange of experiences among participants from different countries.

Participation in races

Part of the training camp was participation in the public four-stage GAPP Czech O-Tour 2026 races, which took place in conjunction with the World Cup schedule. Participants had the opportunity to compete against other runners and test themselves on the same terrain where the world’s best orienteers were racing at the same time. The training camp also included participation in the opening sprint prologue in Český Krumlov. The subsequent stages took place in the vicinity of Vyšší Brod and offered competitors varied courses and challenging forest conditions.

Our members managed to place among the top finishers in nearly every race. Results: PROLOG; E1; E2; E3; E4

Participating in public races was an important part of our preparation. The competitors were able to test their physical and mental readiness, practice performing under pressure, and compare their experiences with their peers from Hungary and Finland.

Common activities

In addition to the sports program, joint leisure activities were also organized. The participants went swimming together in the Vltava River, took a boat ride, and spent time together at informal gatherings and on a tour of Český Krumlov. These activities helped the participants get to know one another better and fostered international cooperation. Thanks to the time spent together, there was an opportunity to talk not only about orienteering but also about life, culture, and sports experiences in their respective countries.

The training camp participants also took part in the public events accompanying OWC 2026. They attended the award ceremonies for the main competitions, festive events, lectures by Czech national team members, and accompanying concerts. This gave them the opportunity to experience a major international sporting event not only from the perspective of the competitors, but also from that of the spectators and organizers. The accompanying program also contributed to the overall atmosphere of the training camp and allowed participants to experience a unique sporting event right at the venue.

The training camp offered participants high-quality athletic training in terrain similar to that used in the OWC 2026 competitions. The gradual increase in the intensity of the training sessions helped develop orienteering skills, physical endurance, and the ability to respond to challenging terrain conditions. International cooperation among Czech, Finnish, and Hungarian participants was also a significant benefit. International cooperation among Czech, Finnish, and Hungarian participants was also a significant contribution.

The training camp in Vyšší Brod thus combined athletic training, participation in a major international event, exploring the local area, and cultural exchange among young people from various European countries.
